The Sonoma County Stompers was founded in 1991 by Pat Boswell-Smith, its first president, and continues to be sponsored by Tuttles Pharmacy. This walking club is a member organization of the American Volkssport Association (see www.AVA.org), which was founded in 1976. We are a not-for-profit organization walking for Fun, Fitness and Friendship.
In 2007 we hosted a "Wine Country" walk in Sonoma, California, as one of 12 walks for the Biennial American Volkssport Association Convention. We had 693 participants! In 2008 we hosted the California Volkssport Association Convention in Santa Rosa, providing four 5K & 10K walks in Santa Rosa and Sebastopol. Each year we sponsor local weekend events in various Sonoma County towns.
Anyone may walk for free, but credit may be earned in the way of a rubber stamp in Event and Distance books. We sometimes provide an award, such as a Jack London commemorative bookmark when we had a walk in Glen Ellen.

Monthly meetings the first Tuesday of each month at Round Table Pizza, 2424 Magowan Drive, Santa Rosa; 6:30 for dinner; 7:00 p.m. for the meeting.
